Name: Joost Wichman Height: 188 cm Weight: 88 kg Hometown: Lichtenvoorde, The Netherlands Professional since: 1998 (BMX) / 2006 (Fourcross) General career goal: World Champion Food: Chinese and Italian Drink: Diet Coke Track: Livigno, Italy Riders: Rob vd Wildenberg & Merle van Benthem Website: sanderbisseling.com Music: house music 'I was 4 when I got my First BMX-bike. Since then my whole live revolved around bikes. My mom took me to all the BMX races around the World. I fell, I won and I learned. It brought me dissapointment and succes. It made me the racer I am today. After a succesfull career on a BMX, resulting in 4 National Pro Titles, 2 victories in the European Championship Rounds and a longtime membership of the National BMX Team, it was time for a new challenge. I started my Four Cross adventure in 2006, together with Jurg Meijer. With help from Bernard and Cannondale Netherlands, we travelled to all the European Four Cross World Cups. We worked hard and we were soon succesfull. Within two years I won the European Championships twice, achieved 7 World Cup podiums and was ranked 3rd in the UCI World Ranking twice.
The 2009 season can be considered as my real big breakthrough. I won three World Cup races, took second place overall and was also second in the UCI World Ranking. That year I got reunited with Jurg, who was already a member of the R.S.P. Mountainbike Team. In 2010 the red and white army won for the World Cup for teams and I grabbed became European Champion for the third time.
A year later I won the bronze medal during the Worlds in Champery. A good result but it was dissapointing as well. I crashed in first position, in the big final...
In 2012 I started my own professional gravity mountainbike team: Rose Vaujany. I'm very proud to be the manager of this ambitious group of riders, and I'm thrilled to be part of it as a rider. Because one goal remains te same; becoming World Champion!
Get a grip, this is my ride...
