World Cup Four Cross 3 in Fort William: 2nd place! |
|
Joost The Boost was looking sharp in Scotland, during the 4th round of the World Cup Four Cross. Made it to the final quit easy, and taking 2nd place behind Jared Graves in front of 8000 spectators.
Wichmans second place was the reward for an incredible move in the third corner, getting ahead of Prokop. His start seemed good but Prokop managed to squeeze in front of him before the first turn. Graves was the fastest rider of the day, although Wichman came closer in the last part of the track.
Summarized: it was a good weekend for Joost The Boost. Second in qualification, winning all his heats, but Graves was just a bit better today.
Videos and personal report will follow.
1/16 finals
No big suprises in this first round. Marosi had troubles with Beckeman but he passed him on the finishline. The other R.S.P. members and the other favourites got through quit easily.
1/8 finals
Some big names were against each other in this round. Slavik and Marosi were up against Prokop. Marosi got eliminated. Dutchman Meijer was on fire in Fort William. He won his heat, before Gracia. Wichman did well, but Lewis Lacey almost suprised him.
1/4 finals
The big suprise was that Graves didn't cross the finishline in first place. A flat tire caused him some trouble but he managed to stay in second place. Slavik had to deal with Rinderknecht and Prokop, another difficult heat, but he did well, second behind Prokop. Rinderknecht out. Wichman had a good start, Meijer followed well and they eliminated Gracia.
1/2 finals
Wichman, Meijer, Saladini and Mechura. Nice line-up. Joost had a good run, Meijer too but he made a little mistake and lost a lot of speed. Wichman and Saladini through. Impressive comeback from the Frenchman, after his injury. In the other semi Slavik crashed, right after the first turn. Graves and Prokop made it to the final.

The first straight of the Fort William track had proven his importance throughout the day. Graves and Wichman were elbow to elbow, but managed to stay on their bikes. Wichman however had to hold back, taking the first turn in third position. But he showed his tactical skills later on, passing Prokop unexpectedly. Second place was the best he could do.
